Marketing & PR Assistant

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm, Friday 8am to 3.30pm, some unsocial hours

FULL TIME/PART TIME: 37 hours per week full time

POST STATUS: 12 month fixed term contract

JOB PURPOSE

Supporting the delivery of the Strategic Marketing and Recruitment Plan and proactively contributing to it. To work with other departments across the Academy Trust in the sharing and updating of relevant information and in the promotion of all aspects of the Trust and Schools to key stakeholders.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

The post holder will be responsible to the Business Manager, and will be required to work closely with external organisations and have contact with staff, students, parents, visitors and others.

MAIN DUTIES / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Website/Online Media • Under the direction of the Business Manager, update content on school and trust websites, to ensure the relevant areas are up to date through the Content Management System (CMS). • Support with the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) of the trust and school websites, ensuring that they are fully optimised at all times. • Use web analytics to monitor visitor traffic to the school and trust websites and make recommendations for change based on data. • Support the Business Manager in the implementation and development of the trust Social Media Strategy • Support the Business Manager with data collection and analysis reports. • Organise, set up and take photographs and videos of school events, edit and use them for press releases, social media, newsletters and on the school website.

Media Relations / Publicity Supporting with all PR based media activities: • Develop and maintain good relations with local, regional and national media • Writing press releases and optimising all PR opportunities • Achieve frequent, timely and positive media coverage across all available media • Writing reports on media coverage data • Press conferences, radio/TV interviews, events and press tours • Devising and co-ordinating photo opportunities • Ensure that a photographic or video record is kept of all events

Publications / Marketing Materials • Produce the termly, glossy newsletters for parents, staff and students. • Produce the termly Trust newsletters. • Produce internal publications including internal staff newsletters. • Produce weekly e-bulletins • Support with the design and creation of event publications and brochures.

• Support the Business Manager with the production of marketing material including school prospectuses (School and Sixth Form) and all other promotional literature (newsletters, brochures, flyers, pens, banner stands etc.) • Support with copy writing for all internal and external publications.

Communications • Carry out relevant marketing based communications with prospective and existing parents, businesses and other stakeholders. • Be the main point of contact for Alumni Network and support the Alumni Officer with research to further grow and develop the network. • Support with the creation, design, distribution and analysis of questionnaires, surveys and consultations.

Events • Provide general administrative support for school events. • Attend promotional events as and when required to represent the school • Assist with planning and direction of photography and video filming for key publications and events

In addition to candidates’ ability to perform the duties of the post, the interview will also explore issues relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children including:

Motivation to work with children and young people; Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people; Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours; and Attitudes to use of authority and maintaining discipline.
