Tara Recruitment is supporting a well-regarded secondary school in the Telford area seeking an exceptional Deputy Head Teacher to join their leadership team from September. Initially offered for the Autumn Term, this role has the potential to become a permanent appointment for the right candidate.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Head Teacher or aspiring senior leader to play a key role in driving school improvement, raising standards, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for all students.

Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will contribute strategically and operationally to the leadership of the school, helping to shape its vision, culture, and future direction.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Headteacher in the strategic leadership and management of the school.

  • Driving improvements in teaching, learning, and student outcomes.

  • Leading on key areas of school improvement and whole-school development.

  • Monitoring and evaluating the quality of education across the school.

  • Supporting behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, and student wellbeing initiatives.

  • Developing and mentoring middle and senior leaders.

  • Using data effectively to identify priorities and improve student progress.

  • Promoting a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements

The successful Deputy Head Teacher will possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Significant leadership experience within a secondary school setting.

  • A proven track record of raising standards and improving outcomes.

  • Experience leading whole-school initiatives and managing change effectively.

  • Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and school improvement planning.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student success.

  • The ability to inspire, motivate, and develop both staff and students.
