Design Technology Teacher – Woodwork, Resistant Materials & Construction

Are you a passionate Design Technology Teacher with expertise in Woodwork, Resistant Materials and Construction? Do you inspire students through practical learning and innovative design? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Design Technology Teacher to join a successful secondary school from September on a rolling basis, with scope for a permanent position. 

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Design Technology Teacher to deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a particular focus on Woodwork, Resistant Materials and Construction. The successful candidate will have the ability to motivate students of all abilities, fostering creativity, problem-solving skills and technical knowledge within a well-equipped department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality Design Technology lessons.

  • Teaching Woodwork, Resistant Materials and Construction to secondary-aged students.

  • Assessing, monitoring and supporting student progress.

  • Maintaining a safe and productive workshop environment.

  • Contributing to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities.

  • Supporting the wider life of the school community.

Candidate Requirements

The successful Design Technology Teacher will possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • A degree or relevant qualification in Design Technology, Engineering, Construction, Product Design or a related subject.

  • Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level.

  • Strong practical skills in Woodwork, Resistant Materials and Construction.

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute positively to the school community.
