I am supporting Secondary, West Midlands school in recruiting a Second in English!
The school are seeking visionary leader so support in shaping the future for their English leaders, playing a key role in fostering a supportive learning environment, development of the curriculum and high standards of teaching.
The school is one of the fastest improving schools in the area, with marked improvements on grades in core subject areas.
This role is ideal for an experienced English teacher looking to take the next step in leadership or for someone currently holding a middle leadership position with the ambition to further shape curriculum, pedagogy, and outcomes in English.

Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Teacher Main / Upper Pay Range + TLR 2A
Timetable: Full Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistently high-quality lessons in English across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Support the development and implementation of an engaging, inclusive, and challenging English curriculum
- Model and promote excellent classroom practice across the department.
- Monitor and support the progress of students to raise attainment and ensure high levels of achievement.
- Assist the Head of English in the day-to-day running of the department.
- Lead on specific areas of curriculum development, assessment, or intervention (to be agreed upon with the Head of Department).
- Mentor and support early career teachers or new team members as appropriate.
- Contribute to departmental self-evaluation, development planning, and quality assurance processes
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related field.
- Proven track record of excellent classroom teaching and student outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of the English national curriculum and assessment requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to inspire and support colleagues and students alike.
Desirable:
- Experience in a middle leadership or coordinator role.
- Experience teaching English Literature and Language
- A passion for literacy and cross-curricular collaboration.
