Are you an enthusiastic and nurturing Forest School Teacher looking to make a real difference? We are working with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) provision in Wem to recruit a dedicated Forest School Teacher to join their supportive and passionate team.

The Role

As a Forest School Teacher, you will deliver outdoor learning experiences that support the social, emotional, and academic development of students with SEMH needs. This full-time Forest School Teacher role involves creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where children can explore, learn, and develop resilience through practical, hands-on activities in the natural environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver Forest School sessions tailored to children with SEMH needs

  • Support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of students through outdoor learning

  • Foster teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in an inclusive setting

  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to teaching and support staff

  • Ensure health, safety, and safeguarding policies are strictly followed in all outdoor activities

  • Collaborate with staff to integrate Forest School learning into wider educational goals

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience leading Forest School sessions or equivalent outdoor learning experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of SEMH needs in children

  • Ability to manage behaviour effectively in an outdoor setting

  • Strong interpersonal skills and patience to support vulnerable learners

  • Passion for outdoor education and a hands-on, creative teaching approach
