Science Teacher – Part-Time | September Start

Location: Telford, Shropshire 
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Part-time, 2 days per week
Subject: Predominantly KS3 & KS4 Science, with limited Maths

We are supporting a well-established secondary academy in the Telford area with the recruitment of a science teacher to join their teaching team from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced science teacher looking for a part-time position within a supportive secondary school environment. The role will involve teaching predominantly KS3 and KS4 Science, with a small amount of Maths. The exact timetable is currently being confirmed, but the position will be approximately two days per week.

The Role

As science teacher, you will:

• Deliver engaging and accessible Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.

• Plan and adapt lessons to meet a range of individual learning needs and abilities.

• Support students in developing their scientific knowledge, practical skills and confidence.

• Create a positive, purposeful and well-managed classroom environment.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student progress and achievement.

• Assess learning effectively and contribute to appropriate monitoring and reporting.

• Teach a limited amount of Maths as part of the wider timetable.

The successful science teacher will be enthusiastic, adaptable and committed to helping young people achieve their potential.

About the School

The school is a mixed secondary academy serving students aged 11–16 in the Telford area of Shropshire, situated in Telford. It is part of the Learning Community Trust and has a clear focus on providing students with a high-quality education while developing their confidence, independence and aspirations

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for a science teacher who has:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.

• A relevant Science degree or teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching Science at KS3 and/or KS4.

• A strong understanding of the secondary Science curriculum.

• The ability to plan engaging lessons and adapt resources to meet different learning needs.

• Strong classroom management and communication skills.

• A positive, professional and resilient approach.

• A commitment to supporting students' academic progress and wider development.

Experience of teaching within a secondary academy environment would be advantageous, although applications are welcomed from teachers with relevant experience who are looking for a flexible two-day-per-week opportunity.
