SEN Teacher
SEN Teacher – SEMH (Key Stage 3 & 4)
Location: Telford
Start Date: January (until Easter initially)
Contract: Temporary / Fixed-term
TARA Recruitment is working in partnership with a specialist secondary setting in Dawley to recruit a dedicated SEN Teacher to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role involves teaching across the curriculum to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and resilient teacher who is committed to making a positive impact on young people with additional needs.
You the new SEN teacher...
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across the curriculum to KS3 and KS4 pupils with SEMH needs; create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment; adapt teaching strategies to meet individual education plans (EHCPs); manage behaviour positively using trauma-informed and restorative approaches; work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and pastoral staff; monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback and adapting support as needed; promote students’ emotional wellbeing, confidence, and social development.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification; experience teaching pupils with SEN, particularly SEMH; strong classroom and behaviour management skills; experience working with Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4; ability to teach across the curriculum; a patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
Desirable:
Experience in specialist or alternative provision settings; knowledge of trauma-informed practice and de-escalation strategies; Team Teach or similar behaviour management training.
