SEN Teaching Assistant

In this role you will be helping the Teacher to look after the classroom and ensure that all children are safe, the classroom is tidy, and assist the children in learning. To succeed in this role you need to have patience and empathy with the ability to recognise when a child needs support. 

Title: Teaching Assistant

Timings: 8:30am – 4:15pm (varies) 

Location: London

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensuring a healthy and safe environment for children
  • Assisting the Teacher in preparing for the lessons
  • Getting the classroom set up for lessons
  • Cleaning and reorganising the room after lessons
  • Taking care of children who are unwell or experiencing emotional distress
  • Recording and reporting a pupil’s progress to the Teacher
  • Supervising group activities, sports events and school outings
  • Helping supporting the Teachers in manage student behaviour

Requirements: 

  • To be patient and kind
  • Able to work with children and help them with their needs
  • To be proactive in supporting the teacher 
  • Be organised and ability to tidy classrooms to ensure the correct environment for children to learn

It would be an advantage to have:

  • Worked in a school before
  • Experience with SEN children or adults
  • Safeguarding Training
  • Child care certificate (level 1, 2 or 3)
  • British Sign Language (BSL)
