English Teacher – Alternative Provision (Start After Easter)

Are you a passionate English Teacher looking to make a real difference in a non-traditional educational setting? We are supporting a dynamic and nurturing alternative provision in recruiting a dedicated English Teacher to join their team after Easter.

About the Provision
This alternative provision works with students who require additional support beyond mainstream education. The setting provides a structured, supportive, and highly personalised learning environment for young people who may face social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. The team is committed to re-engaging students with education, building confidence, and supporting both academic and personal development.

The Role
As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons tailored to meet the needs of learners who may have gaps in education or barriers to learning. You will play a vital role in helping students develop key literacy skills, improve confidence, and achieve meaningful progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated English lessons

  • Support students with a range of additional needs and learning barriers

  • Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and trust

  • Create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment

  • Assess and monitor progress, adapting teaching strategies accordingly

  • Work closely with support staff and external professionals

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching English, ideally within alternative provision or SEN settings

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach

  • Ability to engage and motivate disengaged learners

  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
