About the School

We are working with a welcoming and well-established secondary school in a picturesque market town. The school has a strong community ethos and is committed to providing a supportive, inclusive and ambitious learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

The school has a collaborative staff team and high expectations for both academic achievement and behaviour. This is an excellent opportunity for a Science Teacher to join an established department for the first half term, with the possibility of the role continuing for longer.

The Role

The successful Science Teacher will teach Science across KS3 and KS4, covering a mixture of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The role will involve delivering engaging and appropriately challenging lessons to students with a range of abilities and preparing KS4 pupils for their GCSE examinations.

The successful Science Teacher will be responsible for:

• Planning and delivering high-quality Science lessons.

• Teaching across KS3 and KS4.

• Covering a mixture of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

• Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of individual learners.

• Assessing and monitoring student progress.

• Maintaining high standards of behaviour and classroom management.

• Building positive relationships with students and colleagues.

• Working collaboratively with the wider Science department.

• Contributing positively to the wider school community.

This position would suit an experienced Science Teacher, or an ECT looking to gain further experience within a supportive secondary school environment.

Qualifications & Experience Required

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

• Have experience teaching Science within a UK secondary school.

• Be confident teaching Science at KS3 and KS4.

• Have a sound knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

• Ideally have experience teaching GCSE Science.

• Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour-management skills.

• Be enthusiastic, reliable and committed to securing positive outcomes for students.

• Be able to quickly establish positive working relationships within an existing department.

The school is looking for a Science Teacher who can make an immediate and positive contribution to the department and provide high-quality teaching from the start of the placement.
