Environmental Commitment

Tara Professional Recruitment recognises its responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of its business activities and is committed to operating in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.

As a specialist recruitment agency supplying education professionals to schools and educational establishments throughout the UK, our environmental impact is relatively low. However, we are committed to continually improving our environmental performance through practical, proportionate measures that support sustainable business practices.

Environmental Objectives

Our objectives are to:

  • Reduce paper consumption by operating digital recruitment, onboarding and compliance processes wherever possible.

  • Encourage electronic documentation, contracts, timesheets, and invoicing.

  • Minimise business travel by using Microsoft Teams, Zoom and telephone meetings where appropriate.

  • Reduce energy consumption within our office by switching off lighting and equipment when not in use.

  • Purchase environmentally responsible office supplies where practical.

  • Recycle office waste including paper, cardboard, printer cartridges, and electronic equipment.

  • Encourage employees and candidates to use sustainable travel options where practical.

  • Collaborate with suppliers who demonstrate responsible environmental practices where possible.

  • Regularly review our environmental performance and identify opportunities for continual improvement.

 

Practical Measures

To achieve these objectives Tara Professional Recruitment will:

Digital First

  • Electronic candidate registration

  • Digital compliance documentation

  • Electronic contracts

  • Digital payroll documentation

  • Cloud-based document storage

  • Electronic invoicing

This significantly reduces paper usage and printing.

Sustainable Travel

Where operationally appropriate we will:

  • Hold meetings remotely.

  • Plan journeys efficiently to reduce unnecessary travel.

  • Encourage car sharing and public transport where practical.

  • Combine client visits where possible.

Waste Reduction

We will:

  • Recycle paper and packaging.

  • Recycle printer cartridges.

  • Dispose of electronic equipment through approved recycling providers.

  • Minimise single-use plastics within the workplace.

Energy Management

Employees are encouraged to:

  • Turn off computers and monitors when not required.

  • Switch off lights in unused areas.

  • Use energy-efficient equipment when replacing office technology.

Employee Responsibilities

All employees are expected to:

  • Follow this policy.

  • Reduce unnecessary printing.

  • Recycle wherever facilities exist.

  • Report opportunities to improve environmental performance.

  • Support sustainable working practices.

Monitoring

The Managing Director will review:

  • Paper usage

  • Printing volumes

  • Business travel

  • Waste and recycling arrangements.

  • Opportunities for further environmental improvements

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation or business operations change.
