Teaching Assistant

Salary: £15,810 – £22,950 per annum (Term Time only)

We are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join our education team and assist in delivering a diverse curriculum to outstanding levels at our brand new residential school, in Ludlow.

The School provides residential and day care for young people on the autistic spectrum. We aim to transform the educational experiences and develop the personal, social, academic and vocational skills of our students to prepare them for life, further education and employment.


To be considered for this role it is essential that you have a genuine commitment to working with pupils with special educational needs and that you have the passion to encourage positive learning experiences. You will have adaptable and flexible communication styles and will base them on individual pupil needs in order to achieve sustained progress.

You will ideally require •Good standard level of education – GCSE •Level 2 award in Support work in School or Level 2 certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in School •Ideally experienced in working with children with an ASD diagnosis •Additional skills such as Makaton, PECS etc would be advantageous

The hours of work will be 8.30 am – 4.30 pm Monday to Friday in term time plus additional hour per week for a staff meeting.

The school benefits from being part of an organisation with over 30 years of expertise and work with leading professionals in the industry to equip their staff with the knowledge and skills required to transform the lives of vulnerable children and young people. At the School they will be providing specialist residential and educational placements to children and young people between 10-18 who has an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis, and whilst comprehensive training will be provided, we are looking for people who has experience of working with autism and understand the challenges and barriers that our children will face within an educational setting.

Successful applicants will be required to hold an enhanced plus barred DBS check (which the school will pay for), along with the requirement to provide full and satisfactory employment references and right to work evidence. Please note that having a positive DBS may not automatically bar you from working with the school but a comprehensive risk assessment will be conducted prior to a suitability decision being made _
