Supporting a rural Shrpshire school in recruiting a Music Teacher from January 2025

I am supporting a partnering school to recruit a Music Teacher to start in the new year!

The Role…

Start Date: January 2025

Timetable: Full Time preferable

Duration: On going

Key Stages 3&4

LEA: Shropshire

The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a love of music, teaching music theory, performance, and appreciation to students at various grade levels.

This role of the Music Teacher involves instructing students in instrumental and/or vocal music, preparing them for concerts and performances, and contributing to the overall artistic development of students.

Situated in a lovely rural Shropshire town, the 11-16 school offer outstanding facilities, with the aim to provide an outstanding educational experiences for all pupils.

The students are given a voice and genuine opportunities to get involved with positive changes to their learning experiences.

Rated GOOD at the previous OFSTED, the school are hoping to secure the right candidate to join their team.

Skills required…

  • Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments or conducting vocal ensembles.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and various musical genres
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students with diverse musical interests and abilities.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success in both academic and artistic pursuits.
  • Willingness to participate in school events and professional development opportunities.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students

Responsibilities Include…

  • Teach music theory, history, and performance techniques to students.
  • Develop lesson plans that accommodate a range of skill levels and learning styles.
  • Foster students' creativity and musical abilities in both group and individual settings.
  • Offer instruction in various musical forms, including classical, jazz, contemporary, and/or folk music.
  • Prepare students for musical performances, competitions, and school events.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive classroom environment that encourages creativity and collaboration.
  • Ensure proper care and use of musical instruments and equipment.

Establish classroom rules, routines, and expectations conducive to a productive learning atmosphere.

  • Lead or assist in the organization of school music ensembles, such as a choir, band, orchestra, or jazz band.
  • Coordinate school concerts, recitals, or musical events throughout the school year.
  • Encourage student involvement in extracurricular music activities and competitions.

Qualifications…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • QTS, QTLS or relevant Teaching Qualifications and Experience Essential.
