We are supporting a Telford based Secondary Academy to recruit a full time Teacher of Drama from January 2025!

Located within the Telford area, the academy trust school welcomes students from 11 – 16 from Telford and the surrounding areas.

Their aim is to create recognise and nurture individuals strengths, passions and talents and aim personal achievements across academic, social and personal areas.

The role of Teacher of Drama…
The Teacher of Drama is responsible for inspiring and educating students in the field of drama and performing arts. The role involves planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons to students across various age groups and skill levels, fostering their creativity, communication skills, and confidence.

As the new Drama Teacher, you would facilitate school productions, help students develop their acting skills, and encourage the exploration of theatre and performance.

Key Responsibilities include…

    • Develop and deliver a comprehensive drama curriculum for students of all levels, ensuring it meets educational standards and the school's goals.
    • Create lesson plans that are engaging, interactive, and diverse, addressing various learning styles.
    • Teach acting techniques, voice training, stage presence, improvisation, and other relevant topics in drama.
    • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate the needs of individual students.
    • Encourage creativity and expression, and foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment for students to explore their talents.
    • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of performance.
    • Help students develop a deep understanding of dramatic literature, performance history, and theatre production.
    • Organise and direct school plays, musicals, and other performances, overseeing all aspects of production, including auditions, rehearsals, and set design.
    • Collaborate with other faculty, including music, dance, and technical teams, to produce high-quality performances.
    • Assist with the design and implementation of stage sets, lighting, and costumes.

Qualifications and Requirements…

    • Bachelor's degree in Drama, Theatre, Arts, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field. A teaching credential is preferred.
    • Previous experience teaching drama or performing arts, ideally in a secondary school or higher education setting.
    • Experience directing or assisting with school productions or performances.
    • Knowledge of various acting techniques, dramatic theory, and theatre production.
    • Passionate about drama and the arts.
