Overview…

Based in Shropshire, Tara have a very positive relationship with large number of Mainstream and SEN schools across the county.

As an agency we support them in providing of schools in Shropshire who a recruiting dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSA).

Pupils could be as young as young as 3, up to the age of 19, with a range of Special Education Needs (SEN) These could include complex needs, autism, and ADHD. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing tailored support to ensure that all students receive the assistance they need to reach their full potential in a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities…

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, assisting them with their learning and personal development.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), ensuring that students' needs are met effectively.
  • Support students with a range of activities, including classroom tasks, social interactions, and sensory experiences, adapting support strategies as required.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and confidence.
  • Assist in the assessment and monitoring of students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to progress reports.
  • Help create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
  • Support students during transitions between activities and locations, providing reassurance and guidance as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists, and external professionals to ensure that students receive comprehensive support and access to resources.

Requirements…

  • Previous experience supporting individuals, inside or outside a school setting.
  • A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • An understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt support strategies accordingly.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are advantageous but not essential.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is required for this position.
